Stella’s Bakery, A Fresh Take on a Madison Favorite

Stella’s Bakery has been a Madison staple for years. Known for its signature baked goods and unmistakable red branding, the bakery already had a strong visual identity that customers instantly recognized.
With the opening of their new Regent Street location came an expanded menu, including a full lineup of sandwiches.
Stella’s needed new photography that could showcase both. The goal was to create imagery that felt fresh and modern while staying true to the bold, recognizable look that makes Stella’s feel like Stella’s.
The Challenge
When a brand has a visual identity as recognizable as Stella’s, consistency matters.
For this shoot, the signature Stella’s red needed to remain an important part of the imagery without competing with the food. That meant paying close attention to color, lighting, styling, and the surfaces and props used in each setup.
We were also photographing a wide range of products. Flaky pastries, colorful baked goods, and hearty sandwiches all have very different textures and shapes. Each needed to look natural and appetizing while still feeling like part of the same collection.
The new sandwiches presented another opportunity. They were a newer part of the Stella’s menu, so the photography needed to make them feel just as crave-able and recognizable as the bakery’s longtime favorites.
The Result
Working on location at the new Regent Street shop, we built a photography plan around Stella's brand identity from the ground up:
Color-consistent styling: using props, backdrops, and lighting setups that let Stella's signature red pop in every frame without overpowering the food itself
Product-forward compositions: highlighting the textures and details that make Stella's baked goods and new sandwiches genuinely mouthwatering
A menu-ready image library: capturing both classic favorites and new sandwich offerings so Stella's has a cohesive, expandable set of visuals for their new location
The result was a photo library built specifically for a bakery expanding its footprint in Madison, giving Stella's imagery that works across their website, social media, and in-store menu boards.
